Hello LOSERS,
And boy do I mean losers…
Phoenix-like, our Fantasy Football League emerges from the ashes of last season, but I suppose I’m the only one who should actually be happy about that…
The Tyranny of the Daytona Slurs persists and we have a opportunity for a genuine Three-PeatTM (don’t worry I’ve spoken to Pat Riley). But I won’t do all my gloating up front, I’d like to savor it.
Some business:
As you saw above, our draft is scheduled for the evening before the first game of the season, Wednesday September 3rd at 7:30pm Central. As usual, I will share links for a video meeting for folks who’d like to draft together. Apologies to those who may be unable to draft live. Remember you can set up a draft list to force the computer at least try to make the picks you’d like. I will be following up with the draft order shortly, it will basically be the reverse of the last seasons final standings.

We have a new addition to the League! Julia will be joining as a co-owner with Rosie. The Brat City Brats look to be doubly fierce this season.

Back by popular demand I’m doing the Recaps again (obviously). We’re doing it here because at some point in the past few years ESPN removed all the HTML customization options from the League Manager Note, so doing it here means I can do stuff like this…
…and also just like, all of the rest of the styling and stuff lol

And that brings us to our most important update. Those of you who really pay attention to League affairs will recall from previous recaps the League Office’s ongoing issues with some of our more internationally-oriented programs. Despite the human trafficking charges being brought in multiple jurisdictions related to our ill-advised and NOW DEFUNCT internship program, I work tirelessly to identify and cultivate international opportunities to expand our league.
That’s why for the past couple years I’ve been in contact with the Chinese Foreign Ministry negotiating a bi-lateral investment opportunity in an expansion league overseas. My Chinese colleagues were able to secure funding via upcoming developments projects in Djibouti being undertaken as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. Earlier this summer I had the pleasure of being invited there for the ground breaking ceremony of the new Fantasy Football Stadium that we were building as part of the program.
Or so I thought
In reality, immediately upon landing at Djibouti International Airport I was bludgeoned and stuffed in the back of a large 4×4. I was driven for several hours, across at least one border, to a counterfeit Labubu factory somewhere in the Horn of Africa where I am being held against my will and forced to perform basic admin and IT support tasks.
From what I understand by eavesdropping on my captors, they have sent one of their colleagues to replace me, dressed in one of those masks from the Mission Impossible movies so that he looks exactly like me. Do not be fooled.
Despite these extraordinary circumstances I will do my best to uphold my solemn oath to manage this league. And also to return to the United States and defeat my imposter.
